To our partners in the struggle for a world where all people are free:

Last year was unforgettable. We held our biggest, most successful conference ever. We grew our coalition so that it’s larger and stronger than ever. We made our ties to grassroots movements across the spectrum deeper and tighter than ever.

In this report, we celebrate our accomplishments—what you helped us achieve—in 2016. And we also share how we are responding to extreme threats to the protections—of freedom, democracy, justice, and the environment—that so many have worked so long and so hard to secure.

How are we moving forward in this difficult time?

We are continuing to create spaces for people to develop strategies to build a society that is more sustainable and just than we have ever had.

In this moment of political uprising, we know that our movements will be more successful if we pair our resistance with clear, visionary demands for the economy—and the future—we need. And so, we are connecting organizations within and outside of resistance movements to the resources they need to advance a transformative agenda.

We hope you will continue to stand by us, working with us, teaching us, supporting us, inspiring us, in this fight for a future where we are all free.

In solidarity,

New Economy Coalition plays a very crucial role in building political power: bridging the work of people developing economic alternatives on the ground every day in their communities to the work of people who are challenging the dominant system through mass popular movements. I don’t see any other organization making these connections. —Arielle Clynes, SustainUS, NEC member
